For the health and welfare of your Dog, and for your peace of mind, you should always purchase your Dog treats from a reliable source.
With products from the larger Pet Food companies you can buy with confidence, safe in the knowledge that their products are manufactured to clearly defined standards and that you would have some recourse were a problem to occur. But what about the smaller independent companies, or individuals, selling ‘Dog Treats’ they have produced themselves?
Do the treats you buy for your Dog contain any Animal By-products, such as Meat or Eggs? If so then they should have originated from a DEFRA approved Pet Food Plant. Essentially, if someone is selling Dog Treats they have made themselves, then they should be able to demonstrate that they have the necessary approval.
Anyone selling Dog Treats that they have made themselves should also be registered with their local Trading Standards office.
For any Dog Treats you buy, are the Analytical Constituents clearly stated? It is mandatory that all Pet Food, including Dog Treats, display the Analytical Constituents on the packaging or at the point of sale. These should include the percentages of Protein, Fat or Oil, Fibre and Inorganic Residue, often referred to as Crude Ash, present in the product.
As an Approved and Registered Pet Food producer, all of our products meet the above criteria.
Our premises are regularly inspected, and our products are regularly tested, to ensure that they meet the required standards. You can therefore buy with confidence from us!
